Uniform
All students must wear a hat and tennis shoes, with Senior School in full sports uniform. Students not adhering to these rules will not be permitted on the courts.

Absences
Absences due to illness
Unless reasonable notice (minimum 24 hours) is given to the Tennis department, any absence due to illness will be charged to your account. You may be required to produce a medical certificate.
Non-attendance
If your daughter forgets to turn up, this lesson will be charged to your account.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to re-enrol each term?
No, the lessons roll over automatically. Should you wish to enrol or withdraw you will need to fill out the Application for Withdrawal Form here.
When is a good time to start my daughter playing tennis?
We have pre-schoolers currently enrolled. If they are showing an interest and asking questions about tennis then that is a good time to start.
Can siblings, parents and external students enrol for lessons?
Yes however priority goes to current Ascham students. Once the Ascham students have been accommodated, we will offer places to the wider Ascham community.
Can I enrol mid-term for lessons?
Yes, you can enrol in lessons at any stage of the year subject to availability.
Do I need my own racquet?
The Tennis department can supply spare racquets when needed however correct shoes and a hat are compulsory.
Where can I purchase a racquet?
Racquets are available for sale in the Tennis office.
Can I change my lesson time and day or lesson type each term?
You can make a request however it is difficult as most people tend to keep their same time for the whole year. This means that all places are usually filled.
What happens in the case of wet weather?
All lessons will still take place and will be moved to in an indoor location.

General Information
Ascham participates in the IPSHA Tennis Competition in Term 4. Students from Years 3–6 are able to participate in this competition, providing they meet the required serving criteria. Students will need to attend all training sessions and all Saturday matches. The Parent Overview can be found here.

General Information
Ascham participates in the IGSA competition that run from the start of Term 4 until the end of Term 1. All matches are held on a Saturday morning. Students from Years 7–12, with any ability from beginners to advanced are able to participate in this competition. Students will need to attend all training sessions and all Saturday matches. Please note this is a two-term commitment.
Please note that the registration form for Summer Team Sports will be released in Week 2 of Term 3.

Uniform
Training
Either the Ascham Sports Uniform or Ascham Training Uniform can be worn to training. Students must not wear non-Ascham attire.

MS Teams
All information regarding Tennis for students will occur on MS Teams. Students will be added to both their individual MS Team as well as the general Tennis Team.

Updates
All updates regarding teams will be posted in their individual MS Team. This could include wet weather updates, venue updates, training updates etc. It is recommended that students download the MS Teams app on their phone and enable notifications so they can receive updates promptly.
Absences
Students are required to use the ‘Absences’ channel to inform their Coach, Head Coach and Sports Administrator that their are unable to make a training or match. The Sports Department asks that as much notice as possible is given for absences, particularly for matches. Students should write the date they will be absent and where possible the reason.
Tagging
Students are asked that when they write a message in their Team, that they tag the relevant people. To tag someone, type the ‘@’ symbol and then write either the relevant person’s name or the Team’s name to inform the whole group.
Online Behaviour
As outlined in Ascham’s IT policy, students must adhere to appropriate online behaviour. We ask that comments are carefully considered before posting.
Criteria
To be eligible for the Tildesley Team selection, students must meet the following criteria:
• Students have selected Tennis as a summer sport that includes Term 4 2024 and Term 1 2025.
• Students must be available for all matches for the duration of both the Term 4 and Term 1 seasons.

During the course of both competitions, players must also attend all scheduled trainings.
Please note that students will only be excused from matches and/or training as a result of injury or illness. Leave of absence may also be considered if students are participating in an Ascham-related or sanctioned event. Discretion will also be shown where possible to students participating in high level training or competition which may conflict with their current training and playing timetable. A written submission to the Head of Sport, Ms Alex Butt, outlining your reason for leave must be made four weeks prior to the requested date. Late submissions will only be considered in exceptional circumstances.
