Tips and Resources
The University of Florida Sport Policy and Research Collaborative has developed a research document on athletic development in children.
Canadian Sport for Life’s Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD) has been produced by sport experts with many years of experience, working with beginner to national team athletes.
The Female Athlete Triad is a health concern for active women and girls who are driven to excel in sports.
Parental involvement and in particular understanding the needs of their children at different stages of development is an important factor in both the sporting enjoyment and success of children and adolescents.

Date and Time
Date: Friday 8 August 2025
Time: Students are to attend morning roll call their classrooms. Students will depart Ascham School at 8.30am. They will return to White Gate at 3.30pm for afternoon pick up.
Venue
Sydney Olympic Park Athletics Centre
Uniform
Students are to wear their Ascham Sports Uniform to and from the event. They may dress in House colours once they arrive at the venue.
What to Bring
Recess, lunch and snacks for the day (the Canteen will not be available for students). Students should also bring their Ventolin/Epipen if required.
Further Information
– Each student will be assigned a number. This will be used to record results.
– On the day of the carnival, students will decide which events they would like to participate in. When each event is announced, they will go to the applicable area.
– Long Jump and 100m will have the option for students to enter either as competitive or participation (House points).
– Competitive events will be timed/measured for selection purposes (Ascham Athletics Representative Team).
– Participation event results won’t be recorded, however, students will earn house points that go to the overall tally.
– It is compulsory for all students to participate in the 100m and Long Jump events.
– Students are encouraged to participate in many events throughout the day to support their Houses and contribute to the Ascham Community.

Date and Time
Date: Monday 19 May 2025
Time: Students are to attend morning roll call at 8.20am as per usual. They will return for afternoon roll call at 3.30pm. The exception will be students competing in the 1500m event, who will meet at the Ascham Gym at 7.15am to depart.

Uniform
Students are to wear their Ascham Sports Uniform to and from the event. They may dress in House colours once they arrive at the venue.
What to Bring
– Costume for House March past

Entries
Entries for all events (except 1500m and high jump) will be completed on the day of the Carnival. Students will need to complete a registration form for 1500m and participate in the trials for high jump prior to the carnival.

Students in both Fiona and the Senior School will qualify to represent Ascham or another competition at a Representative Carnival. Students will be contacted by the Sports Department after the School Carnivals if selected. Information regarding these events will be uploaded below.
