Triathlon | Senior

General Information 

Ascham provides a pathway for students to participate in the NSW All Schools Triathlon in Term 1. Details pertaining to this event can be found below. 

Individual Triathlon Races 

Date Thursday 23 February 2023
Time 7am–2.30pm 
Venue Sydney International Regatta Centre, Penrith
Age Divisions (age as of 31 December 2022) Senior: 17–19 years
Intermediate: 15–16 years
Junior: 12–14 years
Race Schedule  7am: Check in
8.30am | Senior: 750m Swim, 20km Cycle, 5km Run
10am | Intermediate: 600m Swim, 15km Cycle, 4km Run
11.15am | Junior: 400m Swim, 10km Cycle, 3km Run
Transport Parents are required to transport their daughters to and from this event
Cost  $40
Registration  The School will submit registrations on behalf of all interested students. Students can visit the Sports Office to notify them of their interest in this event.

Team Triathlon Races 

In 2022, Ascham will not be entering teams into the Team Triathlon due to the Ascham Cross Country Carnival being held on the same day. 

Competition Rules—Bikes 

Bike Restrictions 

There will be no Roll Out checks completed on any bike. Therefore, there is no roll out distance specification for any age group. The following information stipulates the restrictions that are in place for School Sport Triathlon events.
Rule 3.13 The following equipment restrictions will apply: 

  • The bicycle may be on-road, off-road or youth style. No “time trial” style bicycles are allowed. No recumbent style bicycles are allowed. 
  • Only standard drop, straight, or curved handlebars are allowed. No aero or time trial bars may be attached to the bike or used during competition. 

NSW All School Race Competition Rules 

  • For all events wheels must have at least 16 spokes and the size of the rim shall not exceed 40mm in depth. The use of composite fibres (Carbon. Kevlar, Aramid and similar fibres) are permitted. 
  • No disc wheels or wheel covers are allowed. 
  • Only detachable tyres and tubes shall be used – commonly referred to as “clincher” tyre. A detachable tube means the tube is detachable from the tyre casing. Tyres where the tube is not detachable from the tyre –commonly known as “Singles” shall not be allowed. 
  • Time trial style helmets may not be used.
