Co-curricular Diving | Hillingdon

General Information 

This is the Foundation Level Diving, students focus on development skills and techniques of diving to increase their confidence on the 1m springboard. Students with no or limited diving experience should choose this level. 

An introduction to Diving for Year 2 students takes place during Term 4 on Wednesday and Saturday. 

 

Class Schedule 

Wednesday: 7–8am in the Ascham Pool 

Saturday: 2–3pm in the Ascham Pool

Co-curricular Diving | Fiona

General Information 

Ascham students can enjoy diving in a fun and friendly environment. Classes are available for all Fiona students from beginner to advanced divers. 

 

Levels 

The White Level is the Foundation Level Diving, students focus on development skills and techniques of diving to increase their confidence on the 1m springboard. Students with no or limited diving experience should choose this level. 

The Blue Level is a Development Diving Level, students focus on the extension and refinement of diving skills with a focus on developing the necessary skills to compete and represent Ascham in the IPSHA and IGSA Diving carnivals.  

The Red Level is Ascham’s High Performance Diving program. This program is targeted towards students who have mastered the 1m springboard and are looking to move into the 3m springboard and Platform diving techniques. The compulsory weekday component of this program is run at Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre.   

Please note that all divers are required to wear a swimming cap; students will not be permitted to participate without one.

Additional Information 8/9 years: three dives required
10/11 years: four dives required
12/13 years: five dives required
Please note that ages are determined by what the student turns in 2025.
This carnival will be used as a selection requirement for the Ascham Representative Diving Team that will compete at the IPSHA Diving Championships. All students wishing to be selected into the Ascham Representative Diving Team must compete in the carnival and competently perform the required number of dives for their age group. 
Spectators Parents are welcome to spectate this event and are asked to please stay in the stands.

Additional Information All students will be transported to the carnival as per communicated Swimming Carnival arrangements.
All students are welcome to participate and compete for Diving Age Championships, however the following criteria applies:
• Students must have had previous diving experience and/or be training with the Ascham Diving Team.
• At the Ascham Championship, divers must be able to perform the following: Junior (12 and 13 years): 5 dives Intermediate (14 and 15 years): 6 dives Senior (16-18 years): 6 dives
Please note that ages are determined by what the student turns in 2025 e.g. a student born in 2010 would be in the 14 years age group.

Representative Diving

 

Students in both Fiona and the Senior School will qualify to represent Ascham or another competition at a Representative Carnival. Students will be contacted by the Sports Department after the School Carnivals if selected. Information regarding these events will be uploaded below. 

 

IPSHA Diving Championships

Time The team will travel to and from the event by bus. Students should meet at the Ascham Gym at approximately 6am and will return at approximately 4pm.

What to bring 3 towels, enough water and snacks for the day
Uniform The Ascham Sports uniform (navy shorts, navy polo, tracksuit and joggers) must be worn over the Ascham swimming costume.
No thongs or ugg boots are permitted.
Students will not be permitted to enter the pool without a swimming cap.
